What is Halotherapy?

The use of Halotherapy in various forms has been in existence for hundreds of years. Halotherapy is a safe, effective, natural, and drug-free alternative to improve your respiratory health. It is helpful for athletes, children, people with respiratory conditions and is a great way to relax.

The modern-day approach to this therapy at Sweat Suites Studio utilizes a halogenerator, a small device that micronizes purified salt crystals and gently mists them into the salt room air. The salt mist is inhaled passively and naturally and acts as a detoxifier and cleansing agent for your respiratory tract. The micronization process allows the salt to be absorbed faster and more effectively and provides benefits in 20-30 minutes.

Water bottles with a lid are permitted in the sauna cabin. You may bring your own water bottle, or you can purchase water at our Studio. We also recommend adding electrolytes to your water to replenish + hydrate, which are also available for purchase. Infrared Sauna

Ready to sweat it out?

What is infrared?

Infrared wavelengths are the invisible light on the electromagnetic spectrum that emits heat. It is not visible to the human eye but instead feels like heat and has the ability to penetrate human tissue and raise the body’s core temperature. Infrared heat is helpful with: Anti-aging, Inflammation, Pain Relief, Detoxification, Relaxation, Weight Loss, & Lower Blood Pressure to name a few.

What is Chromotherapy?

Chromotherapy is also known as color therapy or healing with colors. This type of light therapy involves using different colors of lights (typically LED) to stimulate specific parts of the brain associated with certain moods or feelings. For example, blue lights are said to have calming effects while yellow lights have energizing effects. Chromotherapy has been used for centuries to promote relaxation and balance energy levels in the body.

Am i allowed to sauna if...?

…I’m pregnant, under 18, have a fever, illness symptoms, a heat insensitivity, pacemaker, or have implants? We recommend that each SSS Member consult your doctor in case of any medical concerns. View All Contraindications here.

What should i wear in the sauna?

This is up to you. Most clients prefer to go in the the nude, whilst others like to wear loose workout clothes. Which ever you choose, towels must be placed on the bench and shoes are strictly prohibited. We confirm that nudity vs. light clothing does not effect or alter the effectiveness of your sauna session.

How often should i visit SSS to go to the sauna?

Attending the Sauna consistently has a variety of health benefits. After consultation with your doctor and based on your current individual health and wellness position + goals, we recommend going to the sauna at least 2-3 times a week at minimum. For maximum results, we recommend going to the sauna at least 4-5 times a week. Read further about all of the sauna benefits here for best results.

Is Infrared Safe? Does it contain EMF?

Yes, safety & wellness are our top concerns. We ensure that we partner with and use the most effective and safe infrared heaters on the market. EMF & ELF Levels in our saunas are mostly below 1mg (when tested directly on the heater itself). When using the sauna, sitting, EMF /ELF levels of infrared saunas are 0mG & are under 200 mV(ELF) of exposure. This means that the ELD levels in our saunas are 3-5 times under the threshold of concern. Ready our Safety protocols and procedures here.

Does Infrared technology interfere with implants (metal, silicone, etc.)

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

Do you offer color light therapy or red light therapy?

All of our studios and saunas offer medical-grade color light therapy & we offer an additional add on high-intensity red light therapy.

Do I burn calories up to an hour after my session?

That's correct! By increasing your core body temperature by 3 degrees in your session and your heart rate, it can take up to an hour to return to its normal state. We encourage you to stay active, before + after your session to maximise your caloric burn for weight loss. Try substituting the elevator and take the stairs!

What if i don't sweat during my first session? Am I broken?

Don't worry! For many, it takes a few sessions before your body begins to profusely sweat. However, this could be as a result of lack of hydration. Remember, if if you don't sweat, you are still receiving all of the therapeutic benefits of using infrared heat. It's a win, win either way!

Cold Plunge

Ice, Ice, Baby!

What is a cold plunge?

Cold Plunging is a cold water immersion process that is less than 59°F. It is the popular term used to indicate an extreme cold immersion experience or a type of cold water therapy.

Like our other modalities, cold plunging is practiced in countries and cultures around the world, dating back hundreds of years. We find merit in wellness practices that have stood the test of time, and we evolve them to present a signature Sweat Suites Studio experience.

Is there ice in the bath?

No.

Is the water clean?

Of course! Our Cold Plunge features superior filtration.

  • 20 micron filtration and ozone: chemical free filtration
  • We check the water daily
  • We maintain a very rigorous cleaning and maintenance regime daily

Clients must be oil and lotion free before using our cold plunges.

How cold is our water?

Our water temperatures can run between 36°- 59°F.

Who can fit in your cold plunge?

Our cold plunges in our studios comfortably fit individuals up to 6'5" and those weighing 350+ lbs.

What should i wear in the cold plunge?

Swim attire must be worn during your cold plunge session. Clients are not permitted to plunge in the nude.

How long should I stay in the cold water?

Each individual is different and has a different tolerance to cold water. Cold water immersion is not a competition. Listen to your body and always remain self aware.
If you are just starting out, start at a higher water temperature and a lower duration. Over time, once you understand your thresholds/ limits, you can begin to lower your water temperature and lengthen your duration.

Building your tolerance will take consistency + discipline.

How often should I plunge?

There is no exact number on how often you should cold plunge. However, studies have shown that a cumulative 11 minutes a week of cold plunging will yield optimal results.

What if i have an open wound?

If you have any significant open wounds, we will not be able to host you to a cold plunge / contrast therapy session. Cancellation fees and policies will still apply. Please schedule a time when your wounds have sufficiently healed.
